J. Porter DeVries, Esq. began his career at the Wall Street firm of Segal Gebski, where he represented clients in construction, business, real estate, and international disputes. He is also a former legal advisor to the IUCN at the United Nations. Porter routinely handles commercial lease disputes, real property disputes, partnership disputes, title disputes, construction defect litigation, condominium association and planned community association disputes, sale and acquisition disputes, and other related commercial and business disputes. Porter serves on the Board of Directors for La’I’Opua 2020, and the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce.
Kerrie Mattis was born and raised in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Yes, home of the groundhog who can predict the weather! In the early 90’s, Kerrie and her husband packed up their only son and headed north to Alaska for a new adventure. During her time in Alaska, she worked in all aspects of accounting for a world class ski resort while simultaneously earning her BA in Accounting from the University of Alaska Anchorage. After receiving her degree, she moved on to work as a Controller for a 5-star hotel in Anchorage. Kerrie has over 25 years in the hospitality industry. Once their son went off to join the United States Navy, Kerrie and her husband decided to move on to a new adventure that included warmer weather!
For the past 9 years Kerrie has worked in many aspects of property management and has learned the details needed to provide the upmost professional service each homeowner and guest deserves. Being an Accountant for the last 25 years, Kerrie has learned the importance of organizational skills, being detailed oriented, problem solving skills and completing projects on time. She brings all of these to her performance on a daily basis as a property manager. Kerrie plays a major role in Lava Rock Realty’s property management division. Her goal is to provide the most professional property management service on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Originally from Rhode Island, Julie has made Hawaii her home since 2006. Growing up in New England with a great love of the outdoors and adventure, she set sail aboard a Hawaiian Island Cruise Ship and eventually landed in Kona, Hawaii.
Julie has been in the Property Management division for 2 years, with a strong background in Hospitality, she has lots of personal knowledge having rented dozens of units around the country as well as the island. There have been good landlords/owners and good spaces, and then there have been really poor/difficult ones. Personally managing 40 long term rentals around the Waimea, Waikoloa and Kona areas, every house that comes along brings its own characteristics and challenge.
